WELCOME ^_^

Hello, everyone! Welcome to my teaching portfolio. This blog is created for the subject ICT in Science. And, i hope this blog can be one of the site that provide some useful information and place where we can exchange our ideas :)

Modelling and Simulation

It is amazing if we can see the development of baby in mother's uterus for 9 months. And did you know that through simulation we can visual it. Very interesting, right? Simulation is the exploration of existing models (Bliss et al., 1992). Simulation through ICT enables students to interact, reflect and develop their knowlege and understanding. With simulation, difficult or complex science concept and dangerous or costly experiments can be shown to the students. Students will understand better and learning process become interactive.
Otherwise, modelling is the expression of one's ideas by constructing one's own models (Bliss et al. 1992). For example, through modelling we can see a three-dimensional diagram of a water molecule. Modelling through ICT enables students to know the effects of changing data or value and its relationships. Hence, modelling helps students to understand the phenomena involved.
Modelling and simulation can be used as teaching and learning tools as they show a difficult and abstract concept that cannot be seen in a real situation.

Interactive White Board

Do you know what is interactive white board? It is a interactive device which is a touch screen white board. When I saw how it is worked, I could only said "WOW!" It is awesome! How come a normal white board can be interactively by touching it? And I was eager to try it in the class :)

With  IWB, science teacher like us can use it in our teaching and learning process. It can be an interesting lesson with many interactive activity can be done by using IWB. However, IWB is only available in private school or boarding school.

Besides that, we were asked to do assignments and present it using IWB in order to practice using IWB and familiar with it. IWB have other components with different colour markers and duster. IWB are used in a variety settings including in classrooms, in broadcasting studios, in corporate board rooms and work groups.
